Hi everyone! I'm Kelly, a senior here at Albertus. This is actually my very last class before I am finished with my BS in Healthcare Management! I VERY excited to learn more about the art of photography. I have a deep appreciation for and love of beautiful images, so I'm excited to learn how to take my own. My boyfriend took this class and his pictures came out so beautifully that I had some of them canvased.
I will be shooting with a Nikon D5100, using two lenses- an 18mm-55mm and a 55mm-300mm Telephoto. I'm hoping to pick up a 50mm prime lens and a macro lens sometime soon!
As you can see above, I'm not over the moon about taking pictures of myself. I mostly like to shoot buildings and scenery. These images were taken at a retro hotel in Boston named The Verb. I visit there frequently; it's a fantastic place to shoot. The door behind me is covered with an image of paparazzi shooting pictures an an unknown subject. If you look closely, you can make out their cameras.
You'll notice that the focus in each picture is a bit different- in the top image, my focus ended up being on the camera strap (oops). In the future, I'll aim for the eyes. In the bottom image, the focus ended up right where I wanted it- on my camera.
I am specifically looking forward to playing with natural lighting and learning how to fill my frame with the image I am shooting.
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteNicely done self portraits! I appreciate your use of a DSLR... It does my heart "good" to see how you are primed to make the most out of this class... Welcome!
